A Bit Of Hip Hop History…Heavy Rotation Magazine

Man oh Man has it been along time since I’ve heard whats being slated as “Real Hip Hop”. Once you get to know my music you’ll see that I try to stay up with the up. I make all kinds of Hip Hop..Eastcoast, Westcoast, Dirty South, Mid West, Experimental … you name it!.
I stated in “I Was A Sample Queen” that I grew up on classic Hip Hop , the Boom Bap 90’s style, and all the great underground artist of that time. Now being that I’m from the eastcoast and raised on this classic Hip Hop, of course when I got into Dirty South, mnnn let’s just say some may have thought ” She’s sellin out”..lol. This is simply not true. A lot of Hip Hop heads seem to have forgotten Uncle Luke and 2 Live Crew from back in the day. In my opinion they were some of the key pioneers of Dirty South music. From Florida to Ny they were burning up clubs with the 808 driven porno rap :-). Guess that’s where I acquired a liking for a different style, which would later lead to an equal love of crunk.

“On and on it seems to go…don’t know what you got til it’s gone”… Today stations are playing a majority of crunk/dirty south style tracks. So when I come across some Boom Bap Hip Hop, it’s almost like a “family reunion” type emotion goin on. You know like being reunited with some old friends from school or something.. immediately I’m taken back and find myself turning up the volume…Aaaah scratchin..when is the last time you’ve heard songs with scratchin in it on the radio?
For all the lovers of classic Hip Hop, I met a DJ who still ” picks up the phone up on the request line”…
His name is AJ Rok Woodson. We met on Twitter. I went to his site and found myself listening to almost every mix he had on there. It’s called Heavy Rotation Magazine Radio… So he’s mixing Hip Hop from old to new, and even allows artist to send tracks. NOW keep in mind that his station is Hip Hop..don’t go sendin Crunk and Pop Hop..lol. But take a listen and leave comments on the mixes you like. Aaah finally a blog world that inspires me to make it happen…back in 2002 I joined the website Rapmusic.com http://www.rapmusic.comIt was wild and crazy on that producer forum ….and I admit that I learned alot from that wild and crazy crew who posted regularly there.
Years passed and a few us of still keep in touch through websites, emails,and newsletters.
I was a newbie beatmaker then, well not so new to the actual music makin, but new to the technical aspects..there were several producers on that forum that were “sho”-win off. Winning beat battles, posting tons of beats.I remember they always knew about something “new” as far as equipment or web happenings.
When I decided to build my website in 2004 ish.. I thought I’d just jump in there and boom! MsTrisMusic.Com would be up and running..lol…what a joke..I am still building the site to this date… I decided to blog in 2005…then the opp came to work on film sets…12 hr days? =not much time to write….Sooooo

After about 4 yrs of designing and changing…. grand opening and grand closing…lol last month
I happened to be visiting the site of one of my Rapmusic mentors Sho-Down.
This guy never ceases to amaze me..His beats are great and he was one of the first producers I knew that had a membership website that actually had active members! WHoa!
When I arrived at his site, I was blown away..I loved it. I did some research and here I am today wordpressin on..yaaaaay.. so Thanks to Sho-Down who turned me in the right direction to get my blog life breathing again!~

Working On The Website

Yaaay Im working on my website this week…It will include Beats drum kits, tips tutorials and all that “I wanna be a producer stuff”. I was thinking on goin pretty deep into the beat making process..giving some info that would have really helped me when I first started. The blog will be as described in the title and a lil less structured than what’s written on the site. Maybe here I’ll do sample of the week or something….suggestions are cool….what would you like to learn about music etc?… If I can’t answer I’ll try and find out from various folks in the business…

So far I’ve got the basic plan and layout. I ‘ll be using yahoo sitebuilder….going smooth as of now.
I’m writing an ebook which be up for instant download…it will be inexpensive yet extensive with information…

later I’ll be incorporating the visual arts..you’ll follow as I show you how I go about designing shirts, and painting on canvas… Artist stand up and lets network build and share some info….stay posted for a link to the main site….Pz and Many Beatz!
